How easily do you bend?

Imagine two twigs of wheat growing side by side. One bends to the wind and allows the breeze to flex and strengthen it. The other is rigid and resists all change. The one who allows becomes more flexible. The rigid will break.

A stream of minute evolutions adds up to life’s “big leaps”. As life changes, each being also changes. Human beings can choose to resist or allow the direction of change to shape them.

My body is a manifestation of who I am. My body is exercised by my passion for life. As my passion wanes, so does the health of my body. When I don’t practice flexibility and strength in my body, I tend to experience a heavy, lazy feeling. I am injured more easily and my energy level is low. What a wonderful feeling it is when I get back to proper care of the body! The more I stretch and move, the more alive I feel.

As it is with the body, so it is with the mind. If we always remembered to care for ourselves with loving awareness, we would practice flexibility every chance that was offered and we’d reach for even more.

Continual resistance of change will eventually break a person. Our bodies become rigid as we resist: an expression of our minds.

Flexibility is an optional response to life’s changes. Allowing change is one of the keys to the fountain of youth.
