Life is always changing. Therefore, we are always beginners.

Beginners are aware, watching closely to learn. Open to new ideas, they pay attention and focus on the task at hand. When we are beginners, our mind is clear.

Beginning something new is subject to the memory of fear. Perhaps at one time we were doubted or told that we couldn’t. Perhaps we learned that we weren’t good enough. These memories are stored in the program of our minds. As they again show themselves in the face of something new, there is fear.

The burden of fear keeps us from experiencing life to its fullest. We release
fear by becoming aware of all that is around and inside of us.

How does the air smell?
How deeply can you hear the sounds?
What is in your field of vision?
How does your breath feel as it enters your body?

Watch for the mystery! Become involved in this moment. Practicing this, we will one day look around and say, “What fear?”

When fear and regret are gone, our eyes open. As we are able to release our ‘need’ to control life; our ‘need’ to know; and our ‘need’ to make everything right; we are able to trust and open to all that life has for us. We are beginners once again.

  1. Very nice Shannon. I will subscribe and post your blog on my FB page from time to time. I suspect you have already read Miguel Ruiz's "The Four Agreements". Your introspective ruminations mirror Miguel's path to self-realization & tranquility.
